Westfield, MA is home to the 104th Fighter Wing. The weather turned out to be
the best out of any show this year. I would like to thank Lt. Colonel Karen
Platt
for access to media day.
We had a little competition between Hornets. The East Coast F/A-18 Demo Team and the CF-18 East Coast Demo team both put on spectacular performances. Of the two however I would have to say the CF-18 Demo Team one.
The F-15 East Coast Demo Team from the 1st FW at Langley Air Force Base had a little competition this weekend as well. Otis brought in their F-15 B and even showed off the tail hook. The ground was very dry. Notice how the East Coast Demo team scorches the runway on take-off. After the demo Major Blue hooks up with a P-51 and F-86 for the Heritage Flight.
During Media Day on Friday a New Hampshire KC-135 flew in with a F-117 on it wing. Just overhead it broke-off the formation. Right behind the 117 was the Black T-38 support aircraft.
Westfield is home to the 104th Fighter Wing. Just up the road is Westover Massachusetts, home to the 439th AW at Westover ARW.
A few other aircraft arrive during media day. An F-86 Saber, Rhode Island C-130, T-6 Texan, McGuire KC-10. CP-140 Aurora, Les Shockley racing Mike Mancuso, and a Dyess AFB B-1 burning the runway.
By far the best performance of the Canadian Snowbirds that I have seen. The weather was perfect, sun was behind us, and the flying was just about perfect.
