For the first time in fifteen years Stewart International Airport hosted an airshow. They managed to get some of the greatest acts in the industry. The show was plagued with problems that ranged from parking and viewing, as well as organization of the flight line.
There seemed to be a very large amount of State Police on hand. At one time there was two helicopters circling the airport at one time.
Not too far from Stewart is the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. Every weekend a the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome turns back the hands of time and relives the years of early aviation. Here the Spad 7 and the Great Lakes battle to the death.
Some miscellaneous photographs of other the L-39 Demo flown by Allen Smith and the West Point Jump Team.
Michael Mancuso was also on hand to show off his extra 300. His performance was cut short due to commercial traffic.
Walt Addison Linscott in his sleek Yak 55 and Chuck Lischer in his F-260 warrior also had their performances cut short.
The F-15 East Coast Demo Team has a new pilot at the controls. Capt. Bret Anderson seemed further away from the crowd then normal. But all in all great job. After his single ship demo performance and hooked up for the heritage flight with Jim Beasley in the P-51 Frenesi.
The CF-18 East Coast Demo Team from Bagotville. As you can see unlike most American demo teams the Canadian demo teams paint their birds up a little.
Stewart International Airport is home to the 105th Air Wing of the New York Air National Guard. The C-5 is the largest aircraft in the USAF inventory. The Galaxy has 12 internal wing tanks with a total capacity of 51,150 gallons (194,370 liters) of fuel -- enough to fill 6 1/2 regular size railroad tank cars.
This was my first time photographing the Blue's newest cargo plane. The C-130-T also known as Fat Albert. Last year the Blues decided to retire their older transport the TC-130-G.
Of course the main attraction was the Blue Angels. This was one of those shows where they just seem to be "clicking". As you can see from the photographs they were flying very tight.
