Lakehurst was my first show of the 2001 season and what a start. Not
only did they have some of the best acts in the airshow community. Not to
mention they had Frank Kingston Smith and Sonny Everett announcing.
Jane & Kirk Wicker are one of the best wing walker duo in the air show industry. Not only married they also work together on a daily basis. Kirk flying the Beast, a 1943 Boeing Stearman, and Jane doing the great job of walking back and forth on the wings.
The F-16 East Coast Demo Team from Shaw Air Force Base was on hand showing off the Viper's ability's. After he pocked a few holes in the sky he hooked up with Dale "Snort " Snodgrass for the Heritage Flight.
Tora, Tora, Tora, is like no other air show act on the circuit. Traveling across the country reenacting the attack on Pearl Harbor. With the pyrotechnics it is an unbelievable experience.
Only at the show as a static display the F/A-18 F Super Hornet from VFA-122 made a quick departure on Sunday. The Flying Eagles are based at NAS Leemore.
Sean Tucker, Mike Mancuso, and Patty Wagstaff were both at NAS Lakehurst. Sean flying his S-2 B Pitts, Mike in her CAP 232, and Patty flying her Extra 300S.
Most shows are lucky to get one B-1. Some shows are lucky to get one flying. Lakehurst managed to squeek two into the air at one time. Not seen in any of these photo's but their were two right behind the other. These Bone's were from Kansas Air National Guard.
Not too far from Lakehurst is McGuire Air Force Base. McGuire is home to the 305th Air Mobility Wing two wings of KC-10 A's and one C-141 B wing.
Dale "Snort" Snodgrass is by far one of the best pilots in the free world. Flying his F-86 Sabre sponsered by AT&T, he showed everyone at Lakehurst why the Sabre was such a great aircraft.
Last, but not least the Blue Angels were on sight. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and they had to perform their low show. In some respects I prefer the low show, as long as you have a little sun for photography.
